My name is Bert Woudstra — photographer, actor, coach, and collector of stories.
What fascinates me are the moments in between. Not the smile people put on for the camera, but what happens just before it appears or just after it fades. Those are often the moments when something genuine reveals itself.
I am drawn to photographs that leave room for interpretation. Images that do not shout for attention, but quietly tell a story.
My camera accompanies me to beaches, theatres, studios, and living rooms. The surroundings may change, but the way I look remains the same: curious, observant, and attentive to the people in front of me.
Whether I am photographing a portrait, documenting a performance, or waiting for the right light along the coast, I am always searching for authenticity — for something that feels real.
A photograph can be a mirror, but it can also be a discovery. When an image reveals something new, something genuine, I know it has done its work.
Because, in the end, it is all about attention.
